By the time students get to the end of term, there is usually a lot of determination to finish up their required readings, complete any outstanding homework, and to finish any and all essays or assignments. Then, of course, there’s those exams and tests at the end of the semester! At this point in time it would certainly be easy for students to feel a bit of pressure. But, luckily, students have learned how to approach the end of term with calmness and self-possession, knowing that all their hard work throughout the term will pay off. In fact, when they’re done using their books, many of them want to try and sell used textbooks so they can see if they receive any money for them. Many students manage this equanimity because they know they have various educational techniques and tools to rely on. For example, having new and used college textbooks kept close by may come in handy when students need to refer to the information contained within those texts. By the time students are preparing themselves for their exams, they will have read all the relevant chapters from any text books which they’ve been assigned, as well as any research articles that were assigned to them on their first day of class. Obviously, quite a number of students may not have the time to reread some of the required reading material, but because textbooks are so conveniently and usefully organized, it is possible that reading things more than once is not always necessary. Also, since most college textbooks have excellent introductions for each chapter, very useful chapter summaries (and often, end-of-chapter quizzes) as well as detailed appendices, reading these college textbooks sometimes brings great pleasure to academics, readers, and students. And, reading with great enthusiasm may help lots of students refresh their memory with what they have already read and learned, so they may be able to have confidence in doing well during their exams.
